National Food Bank Day

Tomorrow is National Food Bank Day. While it’s something that most of us don’t think about often, hunger may be as close as your neighbor next door or your co-worker right next to you. Food Banks across the country help 42 million men, women, and children who struggle with putting food on the table. Reasons can range from illness to job loss to general circumstance changes – circumstances that could happen to any one of us.

Food banks fill the gaps for those living on a meager budget. Many food banks offer educational opportunities, as well, that can help people change their situation and star fresh. Often, those who benefit from the programs, return to volunteer and contribute at the very food bank that staved off hunger so they can do the same for others.

In honor of this day, help a friend, co-worker, or child by making a donation or volunteering at your local food bank. Food banks take non-perishable food items and cash donations every day. Check their needs list for fresh items they may be in search of.

QuickChek is proud to partner with several food banks in the area. If you are looking to help out, we have two scheduled opportunities remaining this year where you can assist those in need.

Thursday, October 12th – Food Bank of the Hudson Valley
Thursday, December 14th – Community Food Bank of NJ
