As we begin the New Year, thanks to everyone in our QuickChek Family who helped make 2016 another great year. Together we are now over 4,000 Team Members strong who are committed to delivering the best fresh convenience experience in the NY metro market. And as I look back at our Key Results for the year, we have something to celebrate.
2016 Key Results:
- Profit We achieved 116% of plan
- Growth We achieved 100% of plan [7 new stores]
- Engagement We were only 1% off plan [74% vs. plan 75%]
Our Profits are achieved through everyone’s commitment to delivering our signature TCD service every day. And don’t forget what we do with our profits: 1st we pay out 33% in bonuses to everyone who achieved their goals and 2nd we reinvest the rest back into the company for growth.
Speaking of Growth, our seven new stores provided opportunities for promotions, allowed many new Team Members to join us on our journey, and expanded our customer base.
For the first time, last year we set out to measure our Team Member Engagement. In doing so, we discovered that stores with high engagement scores had higher sales, double the profits, and the lowest turnover. That’s a great place to work.
You should also know that others continue to recognize our excellence. Although we never go out looking to win trophies and awards, they seem to find us. In 2016, we received several accolades:

Best Companies to Work For, New York
Looking forward, 2017 is already off to a great start with many new stores under construction and everyone focusing on our 3 Key Results: Profits, Growth, and Engagement. 2017 is a big year for us.
Can you believe we will be celebrating our 50th Anniversary? We have come a long way since our first store in Dunellen, NJ, which opened March 15, 1967. Take a look at the 50 Years of Fresh timeline we put together marking many of the milestones on our journey. This is a true testament to the men and women who help to make our company what we are today and to the strength and success of our business.
I would like to personally thank every Team Member in our QuickChek family for what we accomplished in 2016 and what we have the potential to be in our future.
