OPERATIONAL OUTLOOK: New Year Goals

Another calendar year comes to an end and a new year begins!

As we begin this new year, it is a great time to reflect on the past and look to the future. It’s a great time to set goals, both personally and professionally! When setting your work goals, are you taking your team into account? Have you reviewed with them the plans and what their role is in achieving those goals? As a company, we have three main goals.

First is to achieve our bottom line profit. This is critical so that we can continue to have the great training, benefits, bonuses, and growth. All of us impact that bottom line! We must look at our expense lines and work to achieve those numbers! Some of the easier ones we impact include shrink. In shrink, we have spoils. Spoils can be managed and reduced by correct ordering and correct rotation of product. They also can be reduced in the Food Service Area by looking at and working production plans!

Second is to open seven new stores. Our new stores are funded in part by the profits of our existing stores. If we do not hit our store profit goals, we impact the future growth of our company!

Our third goal is to have an engagement score of 75% for our company. An engagement score at this level says that our team is committed to each other and to our customers! Engagement is more important now than ever! With the continued growth in our Food Service Area, how we execute and deliver the quality product to our customers is crucial for our future growth. We have a goal of 100% quality in our Food Service Area. That means our customer gets the correct food items – 100% of the time! This can only be achieved with a team that is committed to 100% accurate orders! I know our team can get that done. Let’s give a shout out to District H for having zero negative customer comments for the first month of our New Year! Way to go, Sandra! Another area of focus that an engaged team has is less accidents! An engaged team is aware of their environment and makes sure that Team Members and customers are safe. Accident costs go directly to the bottom line! All accidents are preventable!
