QuickChek Store Leaders, District Leaders, and Support Center Team Members recently were given the opportunity to participate in the first ever, enterprise-wide National Leadership Conference (NLC) in conjunction with Murphy USA.
This year’s conference, which was hosted across 85 meeting sites within the Murphy USA and QuickChek network, primarily focused on the importance of wellbeing.
“The theme of the NLC couldn’t have been more fitting,” said District Leader of District M, Drew Allen. “Our front-line Store Leaders and store teams have been through a lot over the past few years and sometimes it is very easy to let the nature of what we do every day in convenience retail get in the way of our own wellbeing and putting ourselves first.”
Participants were guided through an interactive learning map and engaged in thoughtful conversations surrounding the topics of physical, mental, and financial wellness.
“The workshops our leaders experienced over the course of the NLC were impactful and gave them actionable methods to help reach their wellbeing goals,” added Drew.
The conference also offered enterprise-wide and QuickChek-specific business updates and news on what is to come in the future. Reflecting on our 2021 performance, Murphy USA President, Andrew Cylde, shared that together we sold more than 4.34 billion gallons of fuel, achieving over one billion dollars in fuel contribution. We also saw combined success in improving our merchandise margin from 15% to over 19%, which Andrew referenced as, “a reflection of QuickChek’s incredible food and beverage business.”
Looking ahead, Murphy USA plans to open 80 new stores, including seven QuickChek locations. As we continue to grow in size, we also aim to grow in offerings and customer loyalty, with our eyes on exciting new hand-crafter beverage offerings and expanding the reach of our QC Rewards app.
“Customer loyalty is such an important part of making QuickChek a Great Place to Shop,” said Digital Marketing & Advertising Manager, Amanda Shymanski. “By encouraging our customers to register for the QuickChek Rewards program, they will have the opportunity to take advantage of programs like ‘Free Coffee Friday’ and our ‘Free Coffee for a Year Sweepstakes”, along with countless other rewards.”
Amanda also noted that encouraging QuickChek Rewards registration will aid in the continued growth of our delivery program. “The more customers we engage through our rewards program, the more we understand who is shopping our stores and how to tailor our offers to them,” said Amanda. “Shopping behaviors have changed and delivery is allowing QuickChek to be a part of that change.”
With the NLC under our leaders’ belts, we look forward to navigating through 2022 together, striving to accomplish our goals both as a company and individually, with our wellness top of mind.
“Leaders should feel empowered to take action on their own wellbeing and to proactively encourage and support healthier lifestyles and attitudes among their Team Members,” said leader of Training & Development, Mandy Steindl-Kwiecien, who organized the NLC for the QuickChek Team. “We are looking forward to continuing the conversation throughout the year.”
